Todays Photo

Walking around the garden this afternoon, I was amazed by the number of plants still flowering... it's winter and these plants don't seem to have been checking the calendar or the thermometer! Perhaps it's the rain encouraging them.

Here's a quick list of what I found flowering: marigold, plumbago, bottlebrush, Sheena's Gold, melaleuca, African daisy, ordinary daisy bushes (these seem to be multiplying), emu bush (eremophila), hibiscus, flowering gum tree, lavender, dandelion. Some of them are looking a little ratty but the flowers are hanging in there (especially the hibisucs).

Here's a couple of the more interesting specimens- a bottlebrush and a melaleuca.

For the botanists- apparently scientists now include bottlebrushes and melaleuca in the same family. It's highly technical- which means I don't understand :D
