The eco-unfriendly attack on free speech
Whatever anyone's view on climate change and GW everyone ought to be far more concerned about the gathering pace of the attack on free speech by scientists, by anyone, over the issue. We have had the British Royal Society (of all organizations!) and other agencies demanding the withholding of grants to scientists who refuse the GW party whip line.
Two days ago, after the UK's other public broadcaster, Channel 4, showed The Great Global Warming Swindle, a House of Commons Select Committee hauled in the controller of Channel 4 and interrogated him (there is no other word) demanding to know why the documentary was shown.
In the US, we have The Weather Channel's Heidi Cullen, who hosts the weekly global warming program "The Climate Code," advocating that the American Meteorological Society (AMS) revoke their "Seal of Approval" and decertify any television weatherman who expresses skepticism that human activity is creating a climate catastrophe.
In Seattle this week when an assistant climatologist at the University of Washington questioned the oft-repeated assertion that the Cascades snowpack had shrunk "50% percent in the last fifty years", he was immediately stripped of his 'assistant climatologist' status by his boss Phillip Mote. Aptly named it seems. A case of needing to remove the mote from his own eye, perhaps?
These are just a few examples of the fear that grips GW hysteriacs. The retreat from reason we are experiencing in the GW non-debate is however highly symptomatic of how debate in the public square and mainstream media more broadly is being obfuscated in or day. Like the Islamofacists, the CCF (Climate Change Fascists) don't want any truck with facts and reasoned debate, they simply want unquestioning compliance.
Just what, we should ask, are these people afraid of? Could it be having their blind faith, the cause in there life and their whole belief system questioned and brought down by realities. Many of those involved don't mind sticking it to those who hold the Judeo-Christian worldview - like me (a practising Christian) - but they sure don't like the role being reversed. I welcome questions and debate about worldview and faith. It holds no fears for me whatever. But there is something inherently sick in the whole Climate Change scheme movement that is fast-becoming a movement not just of irrational alarm, but of outright fear - and not just fear of climate either.
