Great Moments in Computing. Episode 1

Just to clarify any uncertainty, this really did happen to me! I was asked if I got this from the internet. No, it's 100% true!

Computer technicians refer to PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair). This one takes PEBKAC into a whole new dimension.

I got a phone call today of the sort that I dread.

"I bought a computer from you yesterday. we've plugged it all in and nothing's working."

"What do you mean nothing's working?"

"Nothing comes on"

"OK I'll be there in a few minutes."

I go around to the house where I'm met by two large but very harmless dogs. I knock on the door, go in and press the power button.

The customer says "Oh, so you have to press the button to make it go."

I reply "yes, and also to make it stop."

I then return to the sanity of my garden.
