Scripture
And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.”
Observation
Ten lepers standing at a distance call out to Jesus, “Lord have mercy on us!”
Jesus tells them to go to the priests. There is no promise of healing, but along the way they discover they have been healed.
One comes back and throws himself at the feet of Jesus in gratitude. He is a Samaritan.
Jesus is surprised that only one comes back. He declares to him, Your faith has healed/ saved you.”
Application
Jesus gave an instruction to test their faith- “Go to the priests.” To go would require belief that they were cleansed,
The one who receives praise from Jesus is the one who disobeyed Him. It was a fiathful disobedience though. In his joy he wanted to go back to thank his saviour. The priest would still be there later. His heart was healed and not just his body.
Ten were healed that day, but only one was saved- the Samaritan. The one least likely and least eligible was the one who received salvation.
The difference between religion and salvation is this- religion draws boundaries between good and bad based on outward appearance, but Jesus welcomes everyone with joy.
Prayer
Thank you! Thank you Jesus for saving me! Amen.
