Reflection on Romans 5:1-5

Scripture
Therefore since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

Observation
It is Christ alone who puts us right with God. There is nothing we can do to add to that or increase its power. Nothing we can do will earn God's grace. All we can do is receive it by faith.

By faith we enter into a place of undeserved privilege which gives us the ability to hope for the sharing in God's glory- living in His presence for ever.

This hope gives us confidence in facing trials and problems because these things build our character. Even when things are tough the Holy Spirit fills us with His love.

Application
In our daily walk we can get caught up in the circumstances of life. Sickness, work issues, family problems, the economy- all of these things can make us miserable if we let them.

We need to recall who we are in Christ. We are the redeemed people of God who get to live in fellowship with Him. He is changing us from glory to glory, equipping us for eternity.

It is not the circumstances of life that define our destiny. It is God Himself who holds our present and our future. He is trustworthy because He loves us.

Prayer
Almighty Saviour, you have rescued me from the darkness of sin. Please lead me in all I do today. Help me to always remember who I am and whose I am. Amen.[/color]
