Lake Lousie and Banff Revisited

Yesterday ended up being a very long day, but quite relaxing. We again went to the high altitude of the Rocky Mountains visiting Lake Louise which is normally ice-free this time of year, but is completely frozen over still.

This is Kenn & Cheryl Gill whose place we've been staying in since last Friday. You will never meet a couple with bigger hearts, more generous spirits than these two.

This is Lake Louise, an iconic Rocky Mountain Lake. In winter, thousands of people flock here to go skating on the lake. The water is replenished by snow melt at the far end of the valley. Occasionally there is a huge collapse of tonnes of snow off the side of the mountain which just shakes everything like an earthquake- so I am told.

I met another friend in Banff.

  1. Beautiful landscape! That's what we miss here in Florida, is mountains!

  2. If you had mountains like these you probably would have much colder weather. We flew over the Rockies from Calgary to LA today, and I was astonished at how extensive they are-- they just seem to go on forever in all directions. Awesome.
