Today marked the start of work at the High School Community Centre- this is the climax of several years' of work and vision for Margaret Baxter  A small group of us prayed at the site this afternoon and rededicated the project to God. The work is being done by building apprentices from Moree and Narrabri TAFEs as well as tradesmen.

Today's Photos
Last night a peewee found its way into our back veranda, but couldn't find its way out again. I couldn't get close enough to rescue it, so I hope it found the door before it found the cat.

Hope the bird is allright. What an amazing undertaking - a High School Community Center! I'm sure she must be happy to see this project started!
ReplyDeleteWe have a young woman working in the school as a christian minister (sort of like a chaplain)- she's funded jointly by the churches in town. The Community Centre project started about 5 years ago as a vision to have a place specifically for christians to gather for prayer, encouragement etc, and a base for the ministry. We had to avoid the idea of a "chapel" to get the approval of the government. It's now becoming a general seminar/ meeting/ audio-visual room, but priority will be given to the needs of the christian groups.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great ministry. Will it be mainly high school students?
ReplyDeleteYes, and teachers
