Every once in a while, you get a day where everything seems to be operating on a higher level. ...
Today was such a day for me. If some details in what follow seem sketchy, you will appreciate a need to protect some privacy.Grant did an awesome job in leading worship, I think possibly his best work ever. He seemed to operate under a special anointing of the Holy Spirit. He did what he does best, worshipping God and encouraging- gently but firmly- the congregation to join him. I felt that God was right there with us.
I had a leading to pray for Mick to release the prophetic gifting that is on his life.
Susan did a good job with Family Input, bringing to our attention that we all have different roles in life and everyone should be valued but nobody is intrinsically above anyone else.
The sermon was good. I am finding this whole series on apostolic- relational christianity is flowing so readily and being taken in by thirsty sponges.
Morning tea/ lunch was good with Happy Birthday sung for Greg and Gary.
Last week, while I was away two situations arose which needed some urgent attention. The participants in one of the situations actually got together to talk today. It's interesting the way that God engineered a potentially divisive situation to actually bring people together. There is a growing grace on our congregation such that when satan threatens to divide us, the love and commitment that we have for each other brings us together more strongly.
The other situation involves another ministry with which I am involved. Again there is potential for division and for personalities to undermine a successful outreach. I gathered together a small group to pray into the situation and I really feel that the spiritual powers in the conflict have been disarmed.
I invited a couple in the church to meet with me for a time of prayer over their marriage. There is nothing wrong with their relationship, but words spoken years ago are holding them back. It was good to lead them in putting that right.
The icing on the cake was having someone come back to really ensure there was no residual bad feeling over that first situation which he had unwittingly caused.
The last few people left at 3 o'clock. After watching a couple of episodes of "Doctor Who" to unwind, we now have to get ready for night church! Watching "Doctor Who" is often a family moment for us as more often than not Susannah and James come around to watch with Josh, Tim and me.
It has been a phenomenal day, but I'm sure we will see more of these as our church grows in size and in spiritual maturity.
