It is human nature, when terrible things happen, to ask God, "Why is this happening to me? What did I do to deserve this, God?"
It is gospel vision, when good things happen, to ask God, "Why is this happening to me? I do not deserve this, God."
Article:
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! I guess I try to over-analyze things and think that if I can figure out what bad thing I did to deserve this then I can avoid it in future. But it's much better just to ask God to show me what He wants me to learn from it and then wait for the answer.
ReplyDeleteA verse for consideration:Gal. 5: 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But would be absurd to consider that bad things only happen because of it, but I do not believe in chaos theory, the question as seems in many situations!
ReplyDeleteThat verse can be scary when you think about it - we set ourselves up as enemies of God's Spirit. It's no wonder we have so many problems!
ReplyDeleteOk keithThe book of Job can answer the many questions, this book is not only the conflict of a man in front of misadventure, but involves a much larger conflict, which I put as the participants, but because it is something real and not imaginary or visionary, enter the depth of the terrible things and evil
ReplyDeleteI agree Elande. I think Job does more than answer questions, it challenges our simple answers. People like to think that the righteous people get special treatment from God and that suffering is the result of some sin. Job make sit clear that bad things happen to good people, and sometimes it just doesn't seem to make sense. But we do know that God is in control and even if we don't understand, He does.
