Crazy Japanese!

Philip arrived home this morning at about 2 am. He drove the 7 hour trip after work (as you can do when you are only 25). We pranked him with a mock GPS set-up on our TV claiming to show "Phi's Location" and a big red flashing dot on a Google maps page of our house. He's always wondered how Margaret could unerringly call him on his trips home and pick, not just what town he was in, but that he was having a break at Macca's. So we showed him the MPS- Mother's Positioning System.

Anyway I just went into the kitchen for a cup of coffee and there are all my offspring gathered around a lap top with Phil's latest video comedy downloads. What I want to know is how someone who works full-time, does college, nearly lives at church and also watches hours of TV and movies each week still has time to download video clips from the internet.

So my family was gathered around the lap-top watching clips from a Japanese game show in which the male contestant stand on this device and recite tongue-twisters. If they fail or stutter or whatever the device gives them a whack in the testicles.

Amusing it is to watch, what on earth would possess any man to subject himself to this sort of pain? Yeah I know money's involved- but you have to be a little bit crazy don't you?

And doesn't it say something about the culture that they keep coming up with these extreme game shows and finding an endless supply of victims? Is there some kind of collective spirit of guilt or something?

Now to write the sermon for Christmas Eve.
