Reflection on Mark 1:1-8

This is the Good News about Jesus Christ, the Son of God

Observation
The good News starts with a prophecy and its fulfilment in John. The Good News is that God will honour repentance and accept his people back.

Love triumphs over judgement. This is the Good News. If it was just about John that would be good enough. But God wants to LAVISH (I love that word!) His love upon us.

John baptises in water- an outside symbol of cleaning- but the Holy Spirit is coming who will cleanse us from the inside and restore us to what we were meant to be.

Application
The Good News is, well, good! Good hardly starts to describe it. God has come and dwelt among us- even though we never knew it.

And now, the voice in a wilderness calls us to come again to the place of washing and be right with God.
