Well a bizarre weather day today. Temperatures in Newcastle were mainly about 40 deg. C, but on the beach this afternoon it was mid 20s. Very nice if you didn't mind the raging nor'easter generated by the temperature differences- the water was about 16 degrees so there is obviously much turbulence at the point where the 16 degrees over the water meets the 40 degrees over the land!
It was almost pleasant in the water despite the coldness... nobody went in any deeper than waist high though!
The way things are going it might actually be swimmable tomorrow!
