To avoid the high wind problems of yesterday, we decided to hit the beach early today.
It was a perfect morning- just a light breeze, no cloud, temperature about 25 deg. C. Lovely!
I went into the water and nearly froze! Apparently the persistent northeasterly winds have stirred up cold water from the depths and brought them inshore. The water must have been about 15 degrees!
After a few minuted my legs stopped feeling cold, but I'm not sure whether it was because they had gone numb or becasue they were warm compared with the temoerature of my chest where the combination of cold water and cool air was producing near zero skin temperatures. After several minutes, I realised that I really wasn't going to get used to it!
Back on the beach it really was very pleasant.... if only the water was a little warmer.
Margaret thought it was because I was too used to the temepratures of high summer in Narrabri. But it was obvious from the fact that 95% of people in the water were children that other adults felt the same way I did!
After this we came home and had showers before touring the Hunter in to collect prams etc we had bought on EBay.
We had lunch at Wangi and then went to visit our old friends Dan and Sue Armstrong. Dan is an evangelist who just loves Jesus. They are both down to earth people- real treasures in God's kingdom.
Dan is recuperating from a time of illness. He contracted viral pneumonia just before Christmas, and then developed angina resulting in emergency surgery just after New Year. He's fine now, but needs to rest for a while.
Visiting Sue and Dan is always refreshing- they are always encouraging and accepting. We are hoping they may be able to come to Narrabri some time this year and either just visit or maybe do some ministry.
So that's our day. It's been a good one!
Blessings
Keith
