What a scorcher it was today! By about 7 pm it was almost cool enough to be outside and I went down to the creek to see what the wildlife was up to in the cool of the evening. As any galah will tell you, the only place to be on a hot day is down at your local watering hole...
I told Phil, I'd been to the beach but the tide was low-- actually the creek is almost completely dried up. With this sunset behind the palms-- it could almost be coastal.
Lovely birds - I wish we had them here. I'm sure they could survive in our climate, Ive seen them in an outdoor zoo recently. Maybe they will be like the little green parrots - some will escape and there you go - they start to populate the area!
Thank you Elande and Lois.Galahs are famous for their apparent lack of what we would call common sense- in fact if you think someone is a bit silly in Australia you might call them a galah.Often they will crash into cars (or vice versa) misjudging speeds and distances, and sometimes leaving it too late to leave a pile of spilt grain on the road. But they are really beautiful birds, and look stunning near sunset. My other favourite bird is the white cockatoo which looks splendid flying in a cloudless sky- either alone or in a flock of up to 100.We live in a beautiful part of the world.
