I've just had a great weekend, although it was very tiring.
On Saturday afternoon I drove to Newcastle to spend the night there before driving to Sydney the next day. There I collected Susannah and all of her possessions from her student accommodation at Concord. We carted all her gear out to the car and then cleaned the room.
Then it was time to head over to Oxford Falls to see Phil and admire his production. "Stolen" was excellent. Each year the School of Creative Arts puts on a production which combines the talents of all of their students- acting, music, song-writing, dance and of course screen production. "Stolen" tells the story of a Polish girl who is brought to Australia under the guise of real work only to end up in forced prostitution. She goes to the police for help because she is being effectively imprisoned by these people, but the only solution they can offer is to deport her back to Poland. As she is being taken to the airport, the bad guys intercept the vehicle and drag her off to a fate which we are left to imagine.
Philip was brilliant in his 50 millisecond cameo appearance. He also did a good job of shooting the scenes at Villawood and at the "brothel"... I hope that's enough to defuse any potential sibling rivalry in the creative departments of my family. Also the pizza at the wrap party after the production was very nice.
I arrived home late this afternoon with Susannah, weary but contented.
I shall compare with your reviews of Sus's stuff and make sure you typed enough. :P Also, I didn't shoot any of it. I was mainly involved with editing for this one.
ReplyDeleteIn that case the editing was very tight and helped contribute to the atmosphere. :P
