Todays Photos

We had a storm late this afternoon which produced a much-needed 7 mm of rain (about a quarter of an inch). OK so it won't break the drought, fill the lake or flood the river, but it was a nice shower. There may be more to come looking at the Weather Bureau's radar screens.

Here are a couple of photos of a nice rainbow that formed during the storm.

In other news, our dog Rex has been unwell for a couple of days. She's been very lethargic and off her food. The vet wasn't able to find anything specifically wrong except for a high temperature. The vet prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory tablets. Rex picked up after her little adventure and is now eating again and looking much happier.

Next time we will just take her for a ride in the car before paying $70 for the vet to cheer her up!

  1. Oh I do wish I could send you some of our rain. The ground is still so soggy that we can't drive on it without leaving big, muddy tracks.Hope Rex continues to mend - it's unsettling to have a pet under the weather - they can't tell you how they feel.

  2. We'd love to have some of your rain, Lois!We had another storm later which dropped another 12 mm so we ended up with about 3/4 inch for the day. It all just soaked straight into the ground because it's been so dry. It should turn everything nicely green again even though it's probably come too late for most farmers' wheat crop.

  3. I hope it continues. Very sad about the wheat, it's such an essential crop. I used to teach piano lessons at a farm in Canada and I know how they worried about the weather affecting their crops.I love the rainbow, always starts me thinking about the flood, then all the rest of God's promises. Such a happy trail of thoughts!

  4. Many parts of Eastern Australia are now in their sixth year of drought. It's been awful for farmers of all descriptions. We've been blessed in that in previous years there have always been enough showers to keep things going. We've often found that rainbows have represented God's promises to us. Often when going through trials there have been rainbows and the assurance "God is in control"- then we would find He really was doing something significant at the time the rainbow appeared.Praise the Lord!
