The photo below shows where I spent nearly all of Monday!
To get to Rockhampton (about 900 km north-east of Narrabri) by air, you go 100 km north to Moree, then 650 km south to Sydney, then you go to Brisbane then finally Rockhampton.
My itinerary involved a 4 hour stop over in Sydney and then a couple of hours in Brisbane. Unfortunately the plane to take me from Sydney to Brisbane broke down and the crew that was supposed to operate that flight had been stranded in Melbourne by another breakdown! The delay in Sydney stretched to over 7 hours. I missed the connection from Brisbane to Rocky. Qantas paid for a swanky hotel bed and taxi fares and a rescheduled seat on the 8.30 am Jetstar flight. Then due to traffic snarls, I missed the check in at Jetstar. I dragged myself into the Qantas ticketing office and they put me into a flight that arrived at Rockhampton at midday- just 17 hours later than I planned.
But I'm here now, having a great time with the Alley people, the folk from Peace Community and an old friend Maurie O'Connell from Queanbeyan.
Here's the view at the Alleys' place.
I'm hoping to take more photos while I'm here, preferably with better light than under overcast dusk conditions.
