Today's Photo

Lots of cloud and storms all around this afternoon.

Here are some "Sheena's Gold" bushes at the West School. The berries look brilliant, but are toxic to humans, making them ideal for a school!

  1. Oh my, they are pretty though. I would guess that they teach the children not to touch them?

  2. I hope so! I think you have to eat quite a few berries to do any damage. Not like the oleander which is a native Australian tree with the most gorgeous of flowers- it is reputed that stockmen who stirred their tea with a stick died within hours, that one leaf is enough to kill a horse. I don't know how many times I've picked up a pot at a nursery and thought "I'll buy that" only to read the label and read the word "oleander".

  3. We have it here too. My daughter bought a house several years ago and it had an oleander hedge. They say if you cut the wood and use it to cook food, it will poison the food. She took it out because there were really ugly bugs living in it.
