Apparently this movie was produced in 1958 and it too warns of the dangers of global warming caused by our old friend CO2. Half a century later the alarmists are still at work and the climate is still being remarkably resilient despite the ever shriller demands that we panic.
Imagine that!
ReplyDeleteMuch of Australia has just had its coldest summer in over a decade and its wettest in 100 years. With snow in Baghdad for the first time in living memory and the terrible snowstorms through much of China, you've just got to wonder about this whole climate change industry.I'm all in favour of renewable energy- I believe that's the path that we have to go down- but to dismantle our economy and return to a basically agrarian society which is what the extreme greens want is just madness.A few years ago one of our more vocal scientists predicted that Sydney would run out of water and Brisbane also by now. Well Sydney's dams are back up to over 60% full and Brisbane I think is heading the same way.Call me a sceptic. I believe that climates change becasue the world is a dynamic and complex system. I don't believe the hype about it being caused by people.
ReplyDeleteIt was only 15-20 years ago that scientists were warning us that we were about to enter a mini-ice age!Yes things go in cycles. Unfortunately that doesn't sell newspapers quite as well as "the end is nigh!"
ReplyDeleteHere goes my speech - I've always had a time trying to reconcile religion with science, then I read in, I think it was, A Brief History of Time, Stephen Hawking wrote that perhaps God created the universe, created quantum and classical physics (maybe others), then allowed the universe to evolve along those laws. That kind of made sense to me.Then... it seems that everything in nature is cyclical. I have never found anything that wasn't. Climate change is probably the same. I remember my great-grandfather telling me about how terribly cold and the great quantity of snow they had when he was in his 20's. Maybe we have been in a warm spell??On the other hand, we need to be careful of our resources. "Waste not, want not" kind of thing. We should be good stewards of the things God has given us.Ok - off the soap box now....
