Today's Non-Photos

We went for a drive to Newcastle Harbour and City Beach today.

Although the weather was reasonably pleasant, sunny but windy and not too hot, rough surf meant that the beach was closed.

I took my camera with me but discovered the batteries were flat

When we got home I put the batteries on the charger, then put the spares in the camera- also flat.

I'm wondering if it's time to get some new rechargeable batteries. I haven't had these that long, so it would be disappointing if that was the case.

Apart from the technology issues, it's been a nice day. Back home tomorrow :)

  1. Mine did that for my power tools. Yes :) I have an old house, so naturally I have power tools - a necessity of life here in the country! The problem was that I let the battery go entirely flat before recharging. Apparently you have to recharge before that happens or damage the battery.I think it's true although I have heard the exact opposite because I've ruined two batteries and I did the same with each one. Check with the battery manufacturer and see if that would help.

  2. I think it varies with the type of battery. The old Ni-Cad batteries needed to be drained right down otherwise they wouldn't charge up properly. I think the recent Metal hydride ones are better.
