Arrived Safely

We left home this afternoon at 2 o'clock, bound for Newcastle (via Cessnock to pick up a pram!).

Just south of Gunnedah there was an accident which blocked the hoghway. The police told some of the waiting motorists that there would be at least two hours delay. We asked a lady doing a U-Turn where we could get through and she said "the back road". "Where's that?" we asked. "Follow me" she replied.

So we went 10 km back to Gunnedah and then down a narrow, winding road that was dirt in part. We had no idea where we were going. The lady leading us stopped in a small village. We had no idea where we were. We asked her, and she told us it was Curlewis- a half hour detour had got us almost back to the highway just a few km south of where the accident had occurred. We thanked our guide and continued to the highway.

The weather was overcast but mainly dry for most of the way. As we got closer to Cessnock the wind picked up and then torrential rain started to fall. Conditions were so bad we had to pull over and just sit still for 5 minutes until the very worst passed.

We eventually got to the house where we were to collect the pram. Then we proceeded to Margaret's mother's place.

A routine journey turned into a bit of an adventure.

We were thankful to God for keeping us safe.

  1. Well, I always think that He has a reason for interrupting our plans. I was talking to my daughter last night - she was somewhat disappointed over a business deal that failed due to someone being sneaky. She agreed that God had a different plan for her and we should thank him for letting her know this wasn't it.

  2. I agree Lois. "Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances."You just never know how much pain a delay or a disapppointment is saving you.
