Our beloved water feature stopped working the other day. I thought it was the usual problem of water level too low. I topped it up but it still just chugged wiuthout pumpping the usual amount of water.

I looked closely and discovered that the philodendron plant had sent an aerial root into the pot and that had spread through the container, developing clumps of root at some places. It must have found that the area around the pump was particularly rich in oxygen because there was a very thick mat of roots there. Once I cleared it all out, the fountain returned to its normal state.
