It was cold yesterday, although not Canada cold! Our maximum was 15 C which is a few degrees warmer than a mid-winter temperature. But it was a 10 degree drop on the day before. There were good falls of snow in the Snowy Mountains which means an early start to the ski season for people of that persuasion.Speaking of the birds looking cold- somebody said the cat looked like it needed to go on a diet, but I pointed out that it was probably fluffy from the cold rather than flabby. It did look cold, until it discovered we had lit the fire- then it was unmovable from the prime location right in front of the fire.
I thought it was so cold and windy that the birds really couldn't be bothered flying. You could walk quite close to them and see they were thinking "You don't really want me to fly in these conditions. Go away and just leave me alone." Then they would take off in a really slow, languid way, circle a few times then drop back to the ground."
The lake picture reminds me of Canada. I think it's the color of the water and the choppiness. Even the birds look cold!

ReplyDeleteI think generally birds and cats do fluff up with the cold. The birds here fluff but also hunch down when it gets really cold.
