What a woeful commentary on the state of the country and indeed the world :(
Terrible. I heard on the radio last night that someone tried to sell their baby on eBay. No one bought the child and the parents said it was a joke, but in any case Child Services came in and kept the baby.On the other hand, we stopped at a roadside BBQ for dinner last night and met an amazing woman. She's had 4 children and fostered another 15. She's a great grandmother (she looks 50!) and is raising a 5 year old boy alone whose father is in prison and his mother is a drug addict. She was telling us about how the little boy interrupted a church meeting (with the pastor's permission) because he had heard that the pastor was going to need surgery, the kid had everyone praying for him and when the pastor went for the surgery, the doctor's said he wasn't necessary for some reason! She preached to us all the time we were eating about "whatsoever you ask in prayer believing...." and she stressed the believing part (just like my mother!!). It was so nice that some little old lady cared enough about strangers to preach like that. We do have some terrible things going on in this world, but we have some pretty wonderful ones too!The picture is terrible, we had started to move when I decided to take it out the window of the truck, but a beautiful lady nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to let the negatives overwhelm us and then overlook the good things and the good godly people who really do make a difference in this sad world.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember this???This little light of mine,I'm going to let it shine,This little light of mine,I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.Hide it under a bushel,NO! I'm going to let it shine.Hide it under a bushel,NO! I'm going to let it shine.let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. This lady reminds me of that song.
ReplyDeleteCool connection.I'm reminded of St Francis' charge to his monks: Everywhere you go preach the gospel- if necessary use words.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote!!! I'm going to email that to my dad, he and my mum will enjoy it!
