I also wandered around the garden and found some good macro subjects (that's photo-geek talk for little things that you get close to with your fancy lens just because you can :) ). We have clusters of berries on the Sheena's gold plant but you run into depth of field issues because if you get the closest berries in focus the ones immediately behind look blurry. I'll fiddle with them another day and post some decent photos when I perfect the art (I hope).
Here is an ant on a leaf on the same bush as the berries. The photo looks much better full size than the thumbnail here- you can actually see the ant!

Alex wanted to take some photos. I turned the preview screen around so that I could see from the front of the camera and we got some decent photos of me, although they all have my arms sticking out in front. Then, as you would expect, he turned around quickly and started taking random photos in the general direction of Margaret. We have ten pictures of sleeves, sky and generally fast-moving backyard shots but one turned out pretty good.
Here's Alex's portfolio:

A couple of shots of Alex in action singing "See saw Marjorie Daw" for some reason:

Finally a good bird photo. I almost trod on this grass parrot, and it flew into a convenient bush a few metres away. It was almost at eye level which was very convenient. I think it's a male- it had a much less colourful friend nearby. Usually with birds it is the males which have the brighter colouring.

As Mondays go, it was a 9 out of 10.
Great pictures!!!I let my grandson take some too the last time he was here. I have a very nice shot of my ear, Arthur's belt and Daddy's arm. But they have to start somewhere!!
