Back, safe, sound and a year older

I returned home from my week at the Australian School of Apostolic Ministry yesterday.

I had a great time, and once my brain starts to function correctly I'll blog about some of the stuff I learned. Generally speaking, it was much the same as I've been learning about and teaching about for several years now.

Here is the key concept:

IT'S ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS!

Yep, everything in the church needs to be relational.

Unfortunately in our quest to organise things we've turned the church into an institution instead of a family.

I don't think I heard anything new, but it was good to talk about the stuff with people in various forms of ministry... pastors, prophets and people who have some sort of inkling that their ministry is not exactly pastoral but looks at a bigger picture.

I'm going to converse with John Alley about how to make the content of the course more focused and more directly applicable- probably splitting it into two stages with resources for reflecting on practicalities.

I also learned that I can drive 1,000 km by myself in one day. It wasn't as tiring as I had anticipated- I left Emu Park at about 6 am (7 am our time) and arrived home at about 6 pm. I felt quite good, but my brain was unable to cope with anything that involved thinking analytical. Plus after about 9 pm I was a bit tetchy :(

I woke up this morning feeling good, then realised I had aged a year and a decade, so I buried my head under the blankets hoping it would go away :)
