Flat Out!

This week has been so busy!

It's the annual HSC exams and I'm serving as a supervisor (my formal positions is Papers Presiding Officer. The pay is pretty good for what is basically unskilled work and you do get to spend a lot of time sitting around reading (in between occasional requests for permission to go to the toilets and requests for extra writing books etc.).

I see it also as something of a ministry in that we do get to pray for the students. I'm sure it makes a difference to them. I'm just amazed how peaceful the atmosphere is in the hall, despite the fact that it's one of the most stressful experiences for people of that age, marking the end of school and the transition to something that might not become clear for several months.

I found out a little while ago that in Narrabri the role of HSC Presiding Officer used to go to the local Salvation Army Officer, at least as far back as the 1970s when John Alley was the Officer here. For at least the last decade it has been run by various christians and staffed entirely by christians.

HSC supervision for this week and next week is basically a full-time job. There are exams most mornings and again most afternoons. Today was good as I had the afternoon off- time to catch up with my day job :)

Tomorrow's another full day. The rest of the family is going to Sydney to see Susannah's end of year dance performance. So I'll be home alone for a couple of days. Hmmm.... must buy some beer and pizza on the way home tomorrow :D

Blessings

Keith

PS I don't drink beer... but I am partial to pizza!

PPS I have to take a break from photography for a while until life slows down. I will probably post some of James' excellent photos of Susannah's dance... I know that they will be excellent photos and that she will dance excellently!

  1. Thanks for the comment on my photography, They didnt turn out too bad, lighting is always an issue at performances, even with the giant stage lights they use. And even with Susannah's Injured knee she still managed to dance excellently, as always :).
