Busy Day's Work

Today Margaret had a "Garage Sale" at the church for the baby goods. We've had a lot of stuff like toys and smaller accessories which have been taking up storage room and which we never get out to sell. So today we had toys, baby pouches, bottle sterilisers, and all kinds of goods outside on tables.

We were busy with people nearly all day and sold nearly $500 worth of goods. The people who came today were different to our regular clientele. We are hoping to tap into a whole new market of friends of friends. We've also cleared out a whole heap of space now which means we can use our storage space far more effectively.

I came across this butterfly which seems to be not doing too well in the cooler conditions of today- or perhaps it's just passing its "use by" date. Either way, it let me get close enough with the camera to take this shot.

  1. Glad you had a successful sale. The last time I had one, I sold very little. One of my customers looked around, bought some small things, then got into her car with her husband. They drove a few feet, stopped, she jumped out holding a cat. She thrust the cat into my arms and started crying, saying she was moving, couldn't take the cat and just knew I would give her a great home. She ran back to the car, they threw a plastic bag out the window and drove away. The bag had her food, medical records - everything. I stood there kind of stunned even after they were gone. I'm not having any more garage sales, I have enough cats!

  2. LOL!Lois you're supposed to end up with less stuff and more money! You must be some kind of cat magnet. Our cat (singular) likes to have company for her midnight snacks. It's a real nuisance if you've got the munchies and you go all the way downstairs and find there's nothing there and have to walk back up to get the human to feed you. She has tried walking around Margaret's face (there's no point annoying me, she just gets smacked). That doesn't always get the desired result so she has learned how to turn the clock radio on. In the middle of the night we will get this sudden burst of music to wake us up- thanks a lot cat! It works though.

  3. What a smart cat! Ours are more persistant than smart. They just sit on us to say, "We want food", then dig their little claws in to add the punctuation!
